JUDGMENT DAY (1992)

The Doctor (Rick Fisher) tries
to help John
Wakefield (Robert Steedman) remember
what happened on his mission |
Synopsis
JUDGMENT DAY is a sci-fi/drama that
takes place in the present or near future. A man named John Wakefield recalls
how he found himself in a hospital with amnesia. The doctor who is helping him
plays the videotape John made while he and his team of three scientists traveled
on board the aircraft carrier USS TRUMAN to the Atlantic Ocean. While
investigating a strange underwater disturbance something went wrong, and John
and the tape are the only survivors that can explain what happened.
As he watches this tape of his
"home movies" of his expedition John begins to experience flashbacks
of the events that led up to his memory loss. Expecting to find a geological
explanation, the scientists are confronted with a strange object that has broken
through the ocean's floor and is rising to the surface. It is a perfect sphere
500 feet in diameter, and it's origin and purpose is unknown. As John receives
increasing pressure to find out more about the object, he is visited by a
mysterious apparition informing him that he is the chosen one. The sphere is a
test for humanity, and John is to decide the fate of Earth's future. As John
races to stop the dangerous experiments the sphere explodes, releasing an
invisible plague that sweeps over the world, causing all human life to
disappear...except for John. After regaining his memory he realizes his destiny;
although he is the last man on Earth, he is the father and creator of a new
world. He alone will shape it to merge with the past and future.
