Photo Gallery: Patriots Point 1990 - 2006
1990-92
The following photographs of Patriots
Point were taken during the first visit to the Naval Maritime Museum in
Charleston, South Carolina on December 23, 1990 and subsequent trips to scout
shooting locations and shoot test footage for Mark's 1992 student film JUDGMENT
DAY.

After Mark completed editing
his student film JUDGMENT DAY in the Spring of 1992, and shortly before he
graduated and left the Savannah College of Art & Design, he decided to visit
Patriots Point one last time on his birthday - May 11, 1992. He was going to be
leaving this region of the country, and not knowing where he would find a job he
knew this might be the last opportunity to see the ships for many years.

2000
In 2000 Mark Adams returned for the
first time to Patriots Point since 1992. The biggest surprise he found was that
the SAVANNAH was no longer at the maritime museum. In the mid 90's it had been
returned to Norfolk, Virginia to be mothballed once again. But Mark did find all
of the JUDGMENT DAY shooting locations on the YORKTOWN, and explored the ships
that remained at Patriots Point. The following are the photos Mark took of the
ships
|

A
strange sight for Mark Adams to see in 2000 - the NS Savannah missing and
the USS Laffey in her place next to the USCG Ingham |

Originally this view was higher in the air, due to the fact that the bow
of the NS Savannah was taller than the Laffey. |

bulkhead as a safety precaution. Today there is an elevator located here
for wheelchair/handicap access to the flight deck. |

In 2003 Mark once again
returned to Patriots Point for a visit. The following are some of the photos he
took of the U.S.S. YORKTOWN.

Mark took his daughter, Morgan, to visit
Patriots Point on January 15th. It was her first visit to the maritime museum.
She also took her brand new digital camera to take photos. Mark took his Canon
XL-1S camcorder to shot some footage for his ETV documentary called THE
VANISHING GENERATION.

On December 28, 2006, Mark
and Morgan returned to Patriots Point for another visit. This became an annual
fun Holiday Father/Daughter trip to the museum. Once again they took still
photos with Morgan's camera, and shot video with Mark's Canon XL-1S camcorder.
