Synopsis
SIDETRACKED
is a comedy/adventure about Roger Cole, a young man with a dream of becoming a
writer in New York. But before he can leave his home state of Kansas he gets
sidetracked into a small town and a strange plot involving blackmail, eccentric
characters and the secret of the Beta Device.
Roger
finds Jane Lambert next to her broken down car along the road and agrees to give
her a ride to the hospital to visit her father. But as they pass through the
small town of Prairie Park, a thief named Grubb hijacks their car and takes them
to his boss Mr. Blackthorne. Roger and Jane are then blackmailed into helping
Grubb steal the mysterious Beta Device from Larry Finger in order to clear their
names as accessories to the earlier robbery. They first meet Finger’s
Chiropractor Dr. Payne, and after Roger endures a torturous yet beneficial
adjustment they are sent to see Finger’s insane engineer Eric Brainerd and
Grubb’s former partner in crime Nitzell. As they continue to get sidetracked
by the growing insanity Roger finds himself separated from the others and put on
trial by a secret society of judges on the Internet for ‘Crimes against
Humanity’. But he must return to save Jane’s life, discover the secret of
the Beta Device and simply say “What. The Hell.”
